With the speed and impact of AI on software development, we are in the biggest education period since the web. We can’t expect engineers to magically become AI experts overnight - we need to offer viable next steps based on where they are currently at.
Although most of the attention on this article has been around “Level 5 Software factory” (see follow-up posts [1][software factory] 2), I like this article because it offers a clear pathway for engineers to progress along.
People working on brownfield projects are seeing real issues with increasing AI. Generated code needs to be re-written, properly tested, adapted to the required styles. They need to be supported to improve their current situation, not forced into avant guarde vibe-engineering.
